The prime suspect in the kidnapping case is 52-year-old Dennis Bell. According to police in Maryland, he approached the victim outside a store in Washington DC on Friday morning.
The victim told police that Bell forced her into a truck and threatened to kill her if she didn’t do what he said.
Bell made her sit on the floor in the right-hand driver’s seat all day while he drove all day, investigators say.
“While in Bell’s truck, the victim stated that he removed her clothing and stabbed her fingers with a penknife. The victim advised police that Bell continued to drive and did not know her whereabouts for several days,” Maryland State Police said in a statement.
On Friday evening, shortly before 10:00pm local time, police received several calls about a truck driving erratically and hitting parked vehicles.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop and eventually went into a ditch.
The man did not want to come out voluntarily and was forced out of the truck. When they searched the vehicle, officers found the woman sitting on the ground in the front right corner, unclothed and with bruises on her fingers.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. The aggressor was arrested.
